Former member Speedy has also reunited with the group after being signed back into Kalawa Jazmee.

Kalawa Jazmee tweeted: “Breaking news, Speedy bounces back to Bongo Maffin after 8 years. We take this opportunity 2 welcome him back! cc @OskidoIBelieve“.

The quartet that includes Stoan, Thandiswa Mazwai, Jah Seed and Speedy rose to fame in the 90’s for their hit albums, The Concerto, Bongolution, IV and New Construction.

This kwaito group was amongst the booming cluster of Boom Shaka, Trompies and Alaska.

Last night Stoan buzzing with excitement of being back in studio with the team, tweeted: GrindStoan ‏@stoanito23h “About to enter @OskidoIBelieve ‘s compound for the first @RealBongoMaffin studio session in 8 yrs!! Puuuula!”

Speaking to SundayWorld, Stoan confirmed that the group is back in studio and will make a formal announcement next week.

“Yes, we are busy currently recording in studio, strategising and reuniting as a team.

“Bongo Maffin as a group never broke up anyway. We have always waited to come back with something more solid.

It will probably be within next week or so where we can make an announcement and talk about the new single,” he says.

Stoan says times have changed and they hope that Bongo Maffin remains the brand that produces great music.

Young kalawa producers will have a hand in helping Bongo Maffin come back with a bang.

“At our age, we have grown but it does not mean we are irrelevant. At Kalawa we have a streamline of talent when it comes to producers who can offer a unique and distinct sound that defines our group.

“Producers such as Badman, Pex Africah, DJ Micks, Mono T and Heavy K as well as Uhuru will be helping us to construct our sound.”

DJ Maphorisa and member of new group Uhuru as well as producer at Kalawa who is becoming a relevant name in the industry earlier today tweeted and instagramed a picture of Bongo Maffin in studio.

Another Kwaito group currently in studio preparing to make a come back is Trompies.
